Before the war began, Israelis mobilized in the streets to demonstrate against the government and proposed judicial reforms. Once the war began, those protests continued and shifted focused to call for the release of hostages from Gaza.

24 hours after the 10/7 attack, the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah got directly involved in the war, launching rockets and drones from southern Lebanon.
Tens of thousands of Israelis were forced to evacuate their homes as the northern front heated up. The border between Israel and Lebanon became a closed military zone.
More than a year after the war began, Israel launched a ground invasion into southern Lebanon. The military went village by village, clearing out weapons that were stored by Hezbollah. The ammunition, rockets and grenades showed that Hezbollah was preparing for a long battle.
